About This Festival
Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakuta, is celebrated the day after Diwali. This festival commemorates when Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill on His little finger for seven days to protect the residents of Vraja from Indra's wrath.

The Sacred Story
When Krishna saw the Vrajavasis preparing to worship Indra, He advised them to worship Govardhan Hill instead. Angered, Indra sent torrential rains, and Krishna protected everyone by lifting the hill.
